DESCRIPTION:Join us for an engaging Community of Practice meeting focused on Musculoskeletal Injury (MSI) prevention in the social services sector. This session will provide a collaborative space for professionals to share and reflect on their current approaches to identifying and managing MSI risks. \nGuided by CSSHSA Advisors\, participants will explore what MSI prevention looks like within their organizations\, discuss the types of MSI injuries most commonly reported\, and consider the role fatigue plays in overexertion and injury. Through facilitated discussions and peer exchange\, we will identify common challenges\, share practical solutions\, and uncover emerging trends related to MSI. \nAt the end of the session\, we’ll reconvene to share key themes and takeaways\, and discuss next steps for continued collaboration and improvement in MSI prevention across the sector. Learn proactive approaches\, effective communication with WorkSafeBC\, and real-world planning techniques to foster successful\, sustainable returns to work. \nEvent Dates:  \nDay 1: April 22nd – 9:00AM – 12:00 PM PST\nDay 2: April 23rd  – 9:00AM – 12:00 PM PST \nLearning Objectives: \n\nApply a proactive approach to RTW and support an injured worker starting from the moment of injury\nLearn how to communicate effectively with WorkSafeBC throughout the return-to-work process\, with a focus on supporting mental and physical health claims.\nIdentify and provide suitable and/or alternate work that aligns with an injured worker’s functional abilities.\nImplement strategies to maintain the injured worker’s connection to the workplace during recovery.\nDevelop\, monitor\, and adjust effective stay-at-work and return-to-work plans.\n\nKey topics include: \n\nThe four stages of the RTW process.\nBenefits of early intervention\, starting from the time of injury.\nDifferences between suitable and alternate duties.\nCategorizing tasks as light\, medium\, or heavy.\nCreating suitable work offers that match worker abilities.\nCommunicating with WorkSafeBC.\nDeveloping and monitoring stay-at-work/RTW plans.\nTroubleshooting challenges post-return.\n\nParticipants will complete self-assessments and have the option to take a quiz. DESCRIPTION:Join us for an engaging and impactful 2 full-day Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Certification Course\, designed to equip you with essential skills to assist individuals experiencing a mental health crisis or decline in well-being. Taking place virtually\, this interactive training is scheduled from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM and will provide you with hands-on techniques to recognize\, support\, and guide individuals toward recovery. \nThroughout the course\, participants will learn how to: \n\nUnderstand mental health through the Two Continua Model\nRecognize multiple forms of stigma and strategies to challenge them\nIdentify and respond to a broad range of mental health and crisis situations\nApply ALGES to declining mental health and acute crises\nSupport individuals experiencing suicidal behaviour\, panic attacks\, stress reactions\, psychosis\, or self-injury\nDevelop a personalized self-care plan using the Three Pillars of Self-Care\nStrengthen knowledge of community resources and recovery-oriented approaches\n\nUpon successful completion\, participants will receive a Mental Health First Aid certificate from the Mental Health Commission of Canada (MHCC). MHFA Certification is valid for three years. \nImportant Note: A minimum of 8 participants is required for the training to proceed. If fewer than 8 participants are confirmed 48 hours prior to the session\, the course will be rescheduled in accordance with MHCC’s group size policy. \nCancellation Policy: \nCancellations must be submitted via email (training@csshsa.ca) at least 5 business days before the scheduled course to receive a refund or reschedule. \nLate cancellations or no-shows are not eligible for refunds or rescheduling.
