DESCRIPTION:This one-day (8-hour\, in-person) course covers the essentials for all new health and safety committee members and serves as an introduction to Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committees. \nLearning objectives: \n\nOutline your role and scope as a JOHSC member\nName sections of WSBC regulation\, guidelines\, and Workers Compensation Act relevant to JOHSC members\nDescribe the role of the JOHSC member in the work refusal process\nExamine the role of JOHSC members in workplace inspections\, incident investigation\, hazard identification and risk assessment\n\nThis course meets WorkSafeBC OHS Regulatory requirements (Section 3.27). \nTopics covered in the course: \n\nThe structure of health and safety in British Columbia\nRoles and Responsibilities\nHealth and Safety Rights\nWhat is expected of a health and safety committee?\nRoles and Responsibilities\nDuties and Functions\nCommittee Terms of Reference\nCommittee Evaluations\nHazard identification\, risk assessment and control\nErgonomics\, is it an issue?\nPsychological wellness: why do we need to talk about this?\nInspections\nInvestigations\n\nCourse Instructor(s): \nJackie Lee\, OHS Advisor\, CSSHSA \nCourse Length: 8 hours \nCourse certificate is provided through CSSHSA Learning Centre. \nCancellation and rebooking policy: \nIf you are unable to attend the course\, please provide at least five (5) business days’ notice prior to the course date to receive a full refund or rebook at no additional cost. \nCancellations must be submitted by email to training@csshsa.ca. \nImportant Note: A minimum of 8 participants is required for the training to proceed. This course explores how to identify contributing factors and root causes\, collect evidence\, conduct interviews\, and implement corrective actions to prevent similar incidents in the future. \nWhy take this course? \nThis Incident Investigation course is ideal for JOHSC members\, supervisors\, and managers who are responsible for responding to workplace incidents as part of a broader health and safety program.
