Health & Safety By Topic

Here you will find health and safety resources organized by topics. Every occupational health and safety (OHS) program is different, however there are some key elements common to all programs. Here you will find what you need to develop an effective program that will prevent injuries and illness in your workplace.

Key elements of a Health and Safety Program include:

  1. Leadership Commitment – OHS policy
  2. Joint Health and Safety Committees
  3. Hazard identification and risk assessment
  4. Workplace Inspections
  5. Safe work procedures
  6. Incident reporting and investigations
  7. Organization specific hazards (e.g. Ergonomics, Violence Prevention)
  8. Contractor management
  9. Administration (e.g. record management)

The topics covered on this page may not cover all the health and safety hazards in your workplace. It is intended as a starting point for identifying the basic health and safety requirements for Social Services organizations.

Check back frequently as we will be updating our pages on a regular basis and adding new resources to our library.
