Course Structure
There are 4 parts to the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System course. Each part focuses on different elements of the WHMIS program. Learners must complete all 4 parts to receive the certificate of completion.
Module 1: Awareness
Awareness is designed to teach you the foundations of WHMIS. At the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Recognize the importance of WHMIS
- Identify WHMIS responsibilities
- Recognize exempt products
Module 2: Hazard Classification
Hazard Classification is designed to teach you about WHMIS hazard classification. At the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Define the purpose of hazard classification
- Recognize WHMIS pictograms
- Identify the hazard classes each pictogram represents
Module 3: Labels
Labels is designed to teach you about WHMIS labels. At the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Identify the components of a label
- Identify the difference between a supplier and workplace label
Module 4: Safety Data Sheets
Safety Data Sheets is designed to teach you about WHMIS Safety Data Sheets or SDSs. At the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Define the purpose of Safety Data Sheets (SDSs)
- List the four questions answered by SDSs
- Identify the sections of a SDS
- List where to find SDSs
